Course Overview

This course will summarize the impact of all-terrain wheelchairs on the health of people with disabilities. The presenter will describe the main considerations for choosing and fitting an all-terrain wheelchair as well as give examples of all-terrain wheelchairs currently available.

The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this course the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .1 CEU or 1 contact hours, following completion of the presentation and a ≥80% score on the quiz.

Mechanical Engineer

Tish Scolnik is a mechanical engineer and the cofounder and CEO of GRIT, a mission-driven company that believes every person, regardless of their physical ability, deserves access to the outdoors and adventure. Tish began working on wheelchair design through an engineering course while she was a student at MIT. Over the past decade Tish has collaborated with programs to expand access to adaptive hiking, including adaptive sports programs, parks, veterans organizations, community groups, and other like-minded partners. She enjoys sharing her love of the outdoors with her husband and their toddler.
