Course Overview




This introductory course will review the latest evaluation and treatment strategies for common vision impairments. Recommendations regarding proper assessment and treatment are provided as well as clinical tools to consider.  Evidence-based research pertaining to common vision impairments is also provided as a resource.

The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this CEU and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .125 CEUs or 1.25 contact hours, following completion of the presentation and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz. You will have 90 days to complete this course.

Joe is the Director of Rehabilitation at Powerback (Exton), and resides in the City of Brotherly Love: Philadelphia, PA. Joe embarked on his professional journey by graduating from the Saint Francis University (PA) Master of Occupational Therapy program in 2014. His commitment to continuous growth led him to attain an MBA from Thomas Jefferson University in 2022. With a wealth of clinical and leadership experience, Joe has become a specialist in the field of vision impairment and vision loss. His expertise lies in conducting comprehensive vision evaluations and implementing interventions to those with neurological impairment. Joe is a certified brain injury specialist, and he has successfully completed a rigorous certificate program in vision impairment and low vision. He is the author of "Practical Approaches to Concussion Management," a continuing education course for beginner and intermediate experience. Joe's contributions to rehabilitation extend beyond his own work, as he has been featured in multiple articles addressing various aspects of neurological rehabilitation. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed fruitful collaborations with optometrists and fellow occupational therapists, emphasizing the need for more multidisciplinary care. In his own words, "We need more collaborative care, and we together have such an opportunity to develop better access for these patients." He hopes to continue leaving a positive impact through leadership, education, and mentoring.
