Course Overview




This presentation discusses the current evidence for pediatric adapted standing. An introduction to postural management provides a comprehensive review of the published literature on standing interventions to decrease secondary complication in cerebral palsy. A further discussion of the benefits of trunk control and light physical acitvity for developing children will emphasize standing position opportunities to positively impact life-long health. Finally, a demonstration of an adaptive standing device will provide positioning concepts for age-appropriate standing intervention as the implementation of the evidence.

The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this CEU and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .2 CEUs or 2 contact hours, following completion of the presentation and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz. You will have 90 days to complete this course.

Michelle graduated from Duke University in May of 2021. She works in private practice with Esopus Medical, PC in orthopedics and sports. Since joining the Rifton team, she responds to therapist and customer inquiries on product implementation and applications and contributes online physical therapy resources. Michelle provides adaptive product instruction for university classes and therapy groups, both in-person and online. Michelle is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapists Association.

Lori Potts

PT

Lori obtained her PT degree at Upstate Medical University College of Health Professions in 1995. Since 1998, Lori has been a certified MOVE International Trainer (Mobility Opportunities Via Education). She currently works at Esopus Medical, PC with pediatric and adult clients. Since 2005, Lori has worked with Rifton, consulting for product design and providing resources for consumer and client education. She is a regular contributor to the Rifton Adaptive Mobility and Positioning Blog and conducts equipment-related workshops throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Lori is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapists Association.
